The Bank

There's no soundproofing. From a bedroom above the street, you hear people talking very clearly, cars driving by, and music from people having a nice evening with friends across the road. There isn't any double glazing. The bath was great, but I'd have preferred to get some sleep instead of having a luxurious bath.

Breakfast was lovely, the view was nice, and the female staff member was very friendly. But I wouldn't go back. We both slept badly after my specific request for a double bed was approved by the hotel, yet the room had two single beds put together. The male staff member behind the bar wasn't friendly. The TV wouldn't connect to the router, so I had to ask him for help, and he seemed put out, with no smile or “no problem.” There was also an emergency light in the room that was absolute overkill. I had to cover it to get some sleep.

The Bank was a great base for our extended golf holiday, with easy access to some of the world's greatest golf courses. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, with the usual amenities, and the pub was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and keen to help. The Scottish people are so welcoming! Breakfast was included and hearty, just right before a day on the course or exploring the local area. The Bank met and exceeded our expectations. We'd highly recommend it.

We booked at the last minute for last weekend. The service was friendly, the value was unparalleled, and the breakfast, included in the nightly rate, was among the best we had on our trip to Scotland. The rooms were cozy, spacious and comfortable, and the bathrooms clean and new. Highly recommend.
