The New Crown Inn

We both enjoyed our meal. My husband’s pie was the biggest slab we’ve ever seen, and it was generous and delicious. I had the Singapore noodles, which were great. The service was friendly and attentive from start to finish, and we felt very welcome. Would definitely recommend.

The beer was clean, the cider was clean, and the food was incredible. It’s an amazing little pub and inn, with lovely staff who were happy to chat and laugh with us. The rooms are cosy, clean and comfy. Honestly, I couldn’t fault the place and will definitely be back. A couple of small things would make it easier: an extension lead or something to charge a phone beside the bed, and a metal spoon for hot drinks, or more than one wooden one. I wanted to enjoy the stunning hot chocolate before bed and still have a coffee in the morning. Still can’t fault it, and I really want to come back soon.

We stayed in the Sykes cottage next door, Garth End, which was fabulous, so we didn’t stay at the New Crown Inn. We dropped in for a drink late on Friday afternoon and were warmly welcomed. Before we reached Bolton, I’d already booked Sunday lunch. The food was great, though we all felt we should have had more than one toastie. We were also disappointed that apple and blackberry crumble wasn’t available for two of the puddings. Those things cost it a star. We’d still love to return if we’re in the area again.

When the village lost power during the busy early evening, the owners and staff handled it admirably. The fire was blazing, the beer was lovely, the food was good, and the place was buzzing with locals. Everyone was very friendly and helpful throughout my great stay. Many thanks, I fully intend to return.
