The restaurant was a real highlight, busy and lively without making us feel rushed. There’s a varied menu, from comfort food to steak cooked on a lava rock, and the prices seemed low for the quality and atmosphere. Breakfast cooked to order and the daily specials are good value too. As a solo traveller with a disability, I appreciated how the staff respected my independence while making sure I didn't have to struggle. The lift helps make this traditional Scottish inn accessible, and when I arrived with more bags than I could manage, they brought everything up without fuss. My room was spotless and beautifully appointed, with thoughtful details throughout. From the moment I arrived, the care shown by the staff, management, and owners was clear in every interaction. I'll definitely return. If you're arriving by train, it's worth checking the distance and arranging a taxi instead of walking, especially if you have mobility considerations.

The breakfast was fresh and delicious, and the decor felt clean and stylish. A friendly woman served us, and they were fine with my assistance dog. This was my first time eating here and I'd recommend it. I'll be back to try lunch.

The online booking for my 60th birthday dinner was quick and easy. We were greeted warmly when we arrived, and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. I'll definitely go back.

We ate here midweek and then spent a little time in one of the private rooms upstairs. The food was delicious, and the staff were attentive without hovering. The place was clean throughout and had a lovely atmosphere. It's centrally located in town, with parking right by the front door. We'll definitely be back.

The set breakfast was reasonably priced, but the extras weren't: £1.25 bought just one hash brown, one potato scone, or one rasher of bacon. I think there should be two of each for that price. More frustrating was the coffee. A small Americano cost over £3 and was so weak I couldn't drink it. I ordered an espresso for £2.35, took a sip, and found it just as weak. Even after I complained while paying, they charged me for both coffees. I wouldn't recommend the Town House. The owner has accused me of being untruthful. I understand a business needs to make a profit, but charging customers for two watery, undrinkable coffees isn't acceptable. Before I retired, I owned a cafe and wouldn't have charged for something a customer found unacceptable. I stand by my review.
