We ordered a packed lunch for the next day's hike and it was well worth it, with fresh sandwiches, water, fruit and a sweet treat. Dinner was a highlight too, especially one of the best servings of haggis we had on the trip. The other dishes were delicious and nicely presented. Cooked breakfast was very good; the continental selection was decent, though nothing especially memorable. This was our third day on the West Highland Way, and getting to the charming hotel was an experience in itself: a small boat picked us up from the route and took us across Loch Lomond. We were greeted warmly at reception, check-in was easy, and our room was ready quickly. The bed was good and comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, but very clean, which matters most to us.

The ferry that takes walkers across the top of the loch was a big help, and we'd happily stay here again when we're in the area. We visited in mid-April on the second night of my husband's West Highland Way walk. Our suite was spacious, beautifully decorated and had a fabulous view down Loch Lomond. The staff were super helpful, and the food was good too.

The food was fantastic across our two dinners and two breakfasts. We tried hearty Cullen Skink, basically haddock chowder, then had Steak Pie and Beer-Battered Haddock, followed by chocolate and honeycomb ice cream. Breakfast came with a buffet of cereals, yogurts, fruit and pastries as well as cooked options. One of us chose the full Scottish breakfast, and the other asked for bacon and tomato. We arrived after two days without power in the Scottish Highlands because of Storm Amy, and two rainy days of hiking without a shower hadn't left us looking our best. The friendly welcome at the front desk and the lovely, spacious room lifted our spirits. It looked out over Loch Lomond and had a large bathroom with a delightful shower. The staff were very kind and didn't make us feel awkward about how we looked. With those views and the care they put into making a stay enjoyable, this is a special place.

After a lot of walking, sore feet, cold and hunger, we were glad to find this cosy place for a meal. The waiter was polite and attentive, we were welcomed warmly and helped straight away, and the prices seemed reasonable for what we got. The chef had done a great job: the food was fresh and full of flavour, and the atmosphere felt inviting. I visited Scotland for the first time two years ago and fell in love with it straight away. The people are humble and ready to help, the scenery is breathtaking and the fresh air is rejuvenating. It's sad to head home and just dream about the next visit. We had hoped to complete the West Highland Way for a second time, but unfortunately couldn't continue. Thanks to everyone who made the meal and experience so memorable! ❤️

The signs say “Open All Day,” but at 11:05 the place was shut. Staff could see us inside and still didn't answer the door knocker or the phone. Eventually someone came to the door and said they'd open at 12:00. Why advertise those hours if that's not what you're doing? The person who answered said it was management's fault, not theirs. Hopefully management will act on this review, change the signs or open all day as advertised. A shambolic way to treat customers.
