I stayed here over 20 years ago, and it was nice then and still is now. There are cheaper rooms at no.95, and they're still nice. Atherstone has its fair share of Focus ST Darren's, so keep your window shut.

We came in for food and a drink. The house burger was nice, though the fries were overcooked. The lasagna tasted good but was very rich, and I don't know why the garlic bread was fried. It wasn't bad overall, but we've had worse. We've stayed here since then, and it wasn't the best experience. The first room was cold because the heating didn't work, so we were moved to a 'better' one. The rooms are very basic, the bed was awful to sleep in, and the stay wasn't worth what we paid. Sorry, we're not staying there again.

The food was very nice, and the staff were friendly. My room was clean and warm, with a very nice feel and plenty of history. One thought, a mini fridge for milk and other perishables would be useful. We had a great stay.

A big thank you to the manager and staff at The Red Lion for looking after us during Mom's wake. From my first tentative enquiry right through to the attentive but unobtrusive service on the day, everyone was courteous, sympathetic and professional. The food was very good too.

We had dinner with friends at the Red Lion in Atherstone last weekend and enjoyed it so much that we came back for breakfast today. My pregnant wife ordered two English breakfasts and asked for a fruit bowl for some extra nutrition, but they said there weren't any available. After we'd paid and sat down, Natalia brought over two pieces of fruit, saying, “I know it’s not a fruit bowl, but here you go.” She also brought a bowl of water for our dog. That thoughtful attention to detail stood out. The whole experience was wonderful, the service exceptional, and we couldn't recommend the place enough.
