I got a clean, comfortable room, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The problem was the window only had net curtains, so I woke at sunrise, which comes very early on a July morning. It was the night before my wedding, and losing sleep like that wasn't helpful. With proper curtains, this would have been a five-star stay.

The rooms are at the back, so it's quiet, and mine was superb, modern and nicely decorated with nothing to disappoint. After a night out I spent some time in the bar, where the staff and locals were friendly and the evening was lively. I stayed at the Wheatsheaf for a night while visiting an old friend. I'd booked using mobile internet, so I called to check, and Lorraine rang me back to confirm everything was sorted and explain the local car park arrangement. A friendly staff member checked me in and showed me to the room. Lorraine even added my car to the local parking app, so I didn't have to get up early to get a ticket.

We had an excellent room and found it great value for money, possibly the best I've had anywhere I've stayed. The owners and staff were very friendly. I'd definitely come back to this lovely little village of Atherstone for a short stopover.
