Bath and Bradford-on-Avon are both only a few miles away, though the pub sits in a peaceful village. We found this traditional Wiltshire place by chance and were glad we did. The owners were warm and welcoming, and the pub felt friendly. Our room was cosy, comfortable, well equipped, and nicely kept, with a homely feel and modern touches. Breakfast costs extra, but the £10 Full English was one of the best I’ve had in ages and great value. We’ll definitely stay again.

We came for the Bath Christmas markets and loved our stay. The bus into Bath and back was easy, and cost just £12. The room was decadent, the bed comfortable, and there was a lovely sunset to watch from the bedroom window. The pub was cosy, and the staff were exceptionally friendly.

We were so impressed after lunch that we returned with friends the next evening for the steak special. It was cooked and presented perfectly, and the pub was full, with a really sociable, welcoming buzz. On our first visit, a Friday lunchtime, the food was excellent, cooked just right, and there was a good menu selection and range of beers at fair prices. Service was friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I’d recommend other landlords come and see how a popular village pub can be run. We’ll be back regularly.

The toilets were spotless, and even the corridor leading to them smelled nice, which you don’t often find. We had Saturday lunch and chose the homemade beef shin pie. It arrived piping hot and was delicious. There was a 2 mains for £20 offer, and for anyone 60 or over, 2 courses cost £12, both great value. The service was friendly and attentive. Definitely recommended.

We often come here for Sunday lunch. The roast is among the best around, and the service is always quick, welcoming, and friendly. Booking here is a safe bet.
