Oak House

I had a lovely room overlooking the square, and the staff were really helpful. They let me leave my bike just inside overnight, though there are bike spaces outside on the square too. The room was comfortable, with tea and coffee, a fridge and a coffee maker. Breakfast had nice vegan and vegetarian options, and the shower was lovely and hot. Great location, and the bar has really nice decor.

Alex was a wonderful host and manager during our amazing two-night stay for my 60th birthday. Breakfast was the best my other half and I have ever had, and the food was 11/10. We also loved dinner, from the fish and chips to the prawn and veg curry with homemade naan. Absolutely amazing, this place deserves your custom.

The staff were very polite and friendly during our one-night stay, and the hotel has potential. We had to move rooms because of a problem with the first one. There was some confusion getting it arranged, and the extra bed still hadn’t been made up. Staff said nobody was available to do it, so I went back to the old room for the bedding and made it myself. Dinner was a real letdown. My cheeseburger was listed as a fresh steak burger, but it tasted like a cheap frozen patty and was very undercooked.

We had a lovely Easter weekend. The room was clean, nice, and had a really good shower, and the staff were friendly and helpful. There’s a lovely outdoor area on the square for eating and drinking. The food was okay, though it didn’t look like the photos on the website.
