The location was convenient, opposite waterside and very close to the theatre, with Waitrose only a few steps away. The stay itself wasn’t the best. My bed sagged on one side and caused severe back pain, so we moved to another room, which was better. The room cards stopped working every day, meaning a trip to reception to get them fixed. Their policy is not to change beds for seven days. When I asked for a fresh bed cover, they gave it to me and said I’d have to change it myself. The cafe food was another disappointment. I ordered pizza, chips, garlic bread and halloumi sticks, and everything tasted frozen. There’s no room service, so I had to manage a tray with all the food as well as bedding. There’s no phone for calling reception, and no hair dryer in the room, though you can ask reception for one. Parking wasn’t always available, as waterside theatre customers usually park there. Travelodge guests can park only on the third floor. The toilet leaked when flushed, and Ra only would start trickling water at various points during the day and night.

The room was basic, clean and small, but fine for one night, and we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was buffet style, though the food was at typical buffet temperature. The hotel is nicely set beside a canal with narrow boats, and within walking distance there’s a theatre, cinema, Wetherspoons and lots of restaurants. The only drawback is parking in the multi-storey next door, on level 3, then walking to the entrance. That seems fine in summer, but less appealing in freezing, snowy weather. I’d recommend it for a quick stopover.

I’ve stayed here several times and keep coming back. It’s clean and comfortable, the staff are friendly, and the location is great. It’s usually reasonably priced too. I’d say it’s one of the best affordable hotels in Aylesbury, and the buffet breakfast is great.

The front office staff were superb, and the hotel is well placed for restaurants and the theatre. Better guidance about parking would help. After an otherwise successful stay, I was disappointed that they wouldn’t let me cancel a breakfast I’d paid for because I’d booked a saver rate. I understand that restriction for rooms, but I don’t see how it applies to breakfast. Most disappointed.

It’s a standard Travelodge and the stay was okay. The location is great, overlooking a canal and about a 10-minute walk from the train station. But the beds weren’t comfortable, and the pillows felt like they had rocks inside. Some beeping in the hallway at night kept me awake. Breakfast was poor too, with the hot food served cold.
