Parking had worried me, but they supplied a resident parking voucher and I found a space right outside or very close by. I was travelling alone, so the small double room suited me well, and it had been freshly decorated. I was surprised to hear they try to redecorate every room each quiet season. The owners clearly put care into the details, from generous condiments to the kettle, microwave and mini fridge. The linen and towels were high quality, and the shower was new and good quality too. The bed was one of the most luxurious I’ve slept in. Easily the best B&B I’ve stayed at, and I’ll try to stay again next time I’m in Ayr.

Breakfast was a real highlight. I chose the full Scottish both mornings, and the black pudding was delicious. The scrambled eggs were the best I’ve tasted, so creamy and buttery they reminded me of my mum’s from childhood. There’s a great range to choose from, and even little scissors on the table for opening sauce sachets. We spent three nights at by the sea B & B and felt very well looked after. Wilson gave us a warm welcome and explained everything, then we found a spotless, relaxing room with fresh milk and water in the fridge, Kit Kats and plenty of hot drinks. The bathroom was modern and nicely decorated, the shower was great and the bed was comfortable. Nothing seemed too much trouble, and it was very good value for such a lovely place. We’ll definitely return to Ayr. Thanks for the hospitality, you’re both doing it just right.

Our family ended up trying to spend time together in a tiny room downstairs, with just one chair and two small beds to sit on. We even had to improvise a table using a bin and a book. The breakfast looked awful too, with strange-looking scrambled eggs and bacon that tasted odd. When we booked online, we were told there’d be a lounge, garden and smoking area. On arrival, we were told those spaces were part of the owners’ private home and off limits. The accommodation was extremely poor. I’d sooner sleep in a tent on the beach than stay here again.

Our room was lovely, with comfortable beds and especially good pillows, which we’d been missing during our long holiday. We stopped for one night in early spring, right between the beach and town. We skipped breakfast, but made tea and coffee and filled a flask for the road.

The breakfast was probably the best I’ve ever had, with everything needed for the day, and the menu card was a great idea. The haggis was to die for. My son and I stayed two nights while we were in Ayr for the British Open at Royal Troon. We had a beautiful room, tea and coffee, and a TV, and slept amazingly well after all the walking. I can’t remember my hosts’ names, but they were two of the nicest people you could meet. Thank you so much.
