The Cottage

Check-in was easy, and the room was tidy, clean and seemed recently refurbished. There were toiletries in the bathroom, plus plenty of tea and coffee and fresh milk in the fridge downstairs. It was just what I needed for a night before an early flight. The airport is within walking distance, and getting there with hand luggage using the twilight drop-off was easy enough. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again for an airport trip.

The rooms were lovely and clean, and it’s close to Bristol airport. The walls were so thin, though, that I could hear everything from next door. I didn’t get to sleep until the early hours, which is why I’ve taken off a star.

The room was comfortable and clean, with a TV and a kettle, plus tea, coffee and biscuits. I picked The Cottage for an early flight from Bristol airport. The terminal is about a 15 minute walk, or you can arrange a lift for a small fee. Parking with Karen & Russell cost less for my stay, and they can deliver your car if needed. I chose to collect it from The Cottage. I’d use The Cottage again for a Bristol airport flight.

The room was homely and had everything I needed, and the place is cute, but the noise made this a two star stay for me. I was in a room facing Downside Road, a small two lane country road with no pavements, yet there were 5-10 cars per minute, day and night. I got maybe an hour or so of sleep. The solid plaster walls do block sound, but the windows need triple glazing. I’ve lived near a freeway, and adding an exterior sliding triple glazed frame in front of the main window would make a huge difference. Without better soundproofing, I probably won’t stay again. It’s a pity, because the hotel is cute. I also wouldn’t walk that road to the airport at 6 in the morning, in the dark, with all that traffic and no pavement.
