The location was ideal for visiting Chatsworth, just a few minutes away, and there was plenty of parking. We spent part of Christmas at the Devonshire Arms and it was warm, welcoming, and wonderfully festive. Our dogs felt right at home too, and the hotel was very dog friendly. Staff were kind, attentive, and accommodating from the moment we arrived. The cosy, clean, comfortable room had little touches that made it feel personal. The pub and restaurant had just the atmosphere you'd want at Christmas, with plenty of choice on the menu. We left relaxed, well fed, and glad we'd chosen to stay.

The roast beef was excellent, and everything we ate was cooked perfectly. Food was beautifully presented and delicious, and breakfast was freshly cooked with a buffet for toast, yoghurt, cereal, and the like. But the buffet area wasn't very inviting, with staff belongings on tables and the space being used for storage and staff meals. Everyone in the restaurant, bar, and at breakfast was very friendly. The Peak District location was ideal, and we stayed two nights, parking both evenings in the adjoining car park. There's also a public car park nearby, which I noticed cost only £1 from 6pm to 8am. Our room had quaint furnishings, though the bathroom could do with a refresh. It was very creaky, and floorboards and pipework woke us both nights. I suppose that adds to the accommodation's character. We enjoyed seeing the dogs around, as we're dog lovers. We'd thoroughly recommend staying here and would return if we're in the area. Thanks to all the staff for making it a lovely stay.

We hadn't booked, but the staff kindly found us a table during our dinner visit while we were in the area for Chatsworth. There was a two-hour time restriction, which was no problem, and we were grateful to be seated. They made both us and our dog feel welcome. The pint of Guinness was decent. The meal tasted OK but didn't inspire me, and I thought the portion of chips was a bit small. I left wanting more, though maybe that's just me being a bit of a piggy 😆

Breakfast was lovely, and the team made us feel so well looked after. Everyone was friendly and ready to help with anything during our stay. The place is lovely and the location is great.

We’ve been three times now, and it’s been good on every visit. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff are lovely. The food is good, though a bit pricey. For my wife’s birthday they brought a bottle of prosecco to our room, which was a lovely gesture. The restaurant team were polite and attentive too.
