Delnashaugh Hotel

The dinner here was the best meal I had during my two weeks in Scotland. Don’t miss the dessert, it was unlike anything I’ve ever had and so delicious I’m still thinking about it. I stayed while walking the Speyside way, and the large room had a king size bed and a tub, just what I needed after a long hike.

The food at both dinner and breakfast was exceptional, and the front of house staff and chef were so warm and welcoming. It was a wonderful one night stay. They were extremely dog friendly too, and we’re looking forward to visiting again.

The hotel is at least 2 km from the Ballindalloch 'stop' on the Speyside Way, and getting there means walking about 1 km along a busy highway. You don't notice the road once inside, though, and the views are amazing. We stayed for one night while walking the route. The room was very good, the service delightful, and the bar's selection of local whiskies seemed nearly complete.

We had booked two nights in the Polly’s Pool room, but left after the first because the bed made a good night's sleep impossible. The mattress felt about as old as my mother's 50 year old one, was worn out and very uncomfortable, and the springs creaked whenever we moved. The staff didn't seem to care. It's a real pity, since the restaurant food was superb and the hotel was nice enough in every other respect.
