Chase The Wild Goose Hostel

The common areas and kitchen were lovely and clean, and the hostel was pretty quiet. Showers were great and very clean too. They even had tea, coffee, milk, bread, margarine and jam for free. Such a friendly, generous place, and a fantastic stay all round. Thank you! 😁

We got to see two yachts coming down the locks, and the Jacobite train passes just a short walk away. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The kitchen was well set up, with plenty of plates, utensils and other things to use.

Chris was at reception when we arrived and was extremely friendly and helpful. He showed us how the rooms were laid out and suggested nearby places and restaurants. We stayed two nights while in Scotland to hike Ben Nevis, and for the price the facilities were very good. Our mixed dorm had eight bunk beds, with clean sheets, pillowcases and a duvet. Shared bathrooms and toilets were clean. Breakfast was cereal, fruit and toast, in limited portions per person, but enough to have something before an early outing or hike. Guests can use the downstairs kitchen to prepare food, though we didn't try it ourselves. The hostel is about a 10-15 minute drive from the Ben Nevis visitor center; a car is probably easiest, as there don't seem to be many nearby bus services. A good choice for budget travel.

The shower was excellent and the hostel very clean. Breakfast was fine, and there are a couple of bars within walking distance for food and drinks. The secure bike storage was handy for us. Good hostel.
