For my 70th birthday in May 2019, we had a party of 12 adults and two dogs at Telford House. The setting and views were magnificent, and there was easy access to restaurants, walks, activities and beaches. The accommodation was spacious and well equipped. We all loved it so much that leaving was hard. I’d love to do it all again soon. Thank you, it was perfect.

The view over the straits from the back is lovely, but I felt exposed there. The place isn’t secluded, with two flats in part of the building and people constantly walking past the front. The furniture doesn’t look new or antique when you inspect it closely, and the internal appearance that first seems impressive doesn’t hold up on closer look. It felt very overpriced. During our stay, the oven didn’t work properly and the dining room curtains were old. I was an invited family guest and didn’t book the place myself. Locals told us gossip about the owners’ son being in jail at the time. The offence was said to be serious enough that we should have been told, especially since visitors might bring children. I consider that a diabolical failure of safeguarding.
