The Milbank Arms

The Reading Room had loads of character and was cosy and spotless. The area was peaceful, with beautiful walks nearby, just what we wanted for a two-night belated birthday break. We were made to feel at home as soon as we arrived, thanks to the warm, friendly, professional staff. After exploring each day, we enjoyed a drink before dinner. We booked meals for both evenings after hearing good things, and the seasonal menu lived up to that, with well-balanced, flavourful dishes. Breakfast was just as good, using fresh local ingredients. I asked for something that wasn’t on the menu, and they kindly made it for me again the next morning. Thanks especially to James, Andreas, and Jenna for looking after us and making my birthday getaway memorable. We’ll be back!

We had a perfect weekend in the cottage, with plenty to do nearby and Yorkshire to explore. Everyone was welcoming and the service was great, while breakfast and dinner were both amazing. Nothing to fault about our stay. Thanks, we’ll definitely return! 🫶🏼

We found this place by chance while driving to another village and stopped for lunch. The food was full of flavour and the portions were generous. Inside, the pub is cosy and nicely decorated, and the building itself is gorgeous. Even the toilets were spotless and smart. The woman at the bar was delightful, and when we asked about the rooms, she showed us a few that were unoccupied. They all looked lovely and were very reasonably priced. We’re looking forward to booking a night and trying the evening menu.

After plenty of big walks, we like staying in traditional pubs around the country, and this is easily the best one we’ve tried. Set in a picturesque village, it has a great range of beers, a roaring fire, and a fantastic menu in a traditional setting with modern comforts. Breakfast was superb too. We usually choose somewhere different each time we go away, but the Millbank was so good we’d definitely return.
