The Park Hotel

I needed somewhere close to a venue I was attending, and The Park worked well. There’s plenty of parking behind the hotel, and the staff were friendly and efficient. The room was very nice, clean and well kept, with a really comfortable bed. I slept well. I booked dinner. The portions were generous and it tasted good, though service was a bit slow despite the restaurant being quiet. Breakfast had continental items at the buffet, with cooked breakfast brought to the table. The cooked food was delicious and the portions were good. I’d certainly stay here again and recommend it.

The carvery was okay. The beef was a bit tough, but the rest was good. My wife found a bit of string in her gammon, and the staff dealt with it by giving her a free dessert. A friend invited my wife and me to a carvery dinner at the Park Hotel yesterday. We were disappointed there was hardly any choice for gluten free and dairy free desserts. Aside from that, it was okay.

The fruit plate with sorbet was the one saving grace, and the coffee was decent. Everything else was disappointing this time, even though we’d had excellent food and service here before. We came to the restaurant for a family meal. The food was barely warm, and the overcooked potatoes were really tough. I ordered the roasted aubergine with cheese, but the aubergine wasn’t cooked, so I stuck to the other vegetables, which were reasonable, though barely warm too.

The staff are the real highlight. Everyone I’ve met has been friendly, smiley, helpful and chatty. Thanks for taking such good care of all your guests. I’ve stayed at this amazing find twice now. It’s nice to book somewhere that lives up to the photos. The hotel and rooms are immaculate and recently decorated, and the showers have good, strong pressure. Dinner and breakfast are both fantastic. See you again soon.
