Northumberland is such a lovely area, the scenery is quite something. Anthony, the landlord, was a great guy, really welcoming and helpful. I’d absolutely stay again, it was a comfortable B&B.

We’d booked online while on the way from York, and the inn is around 8 miles from Hexham. The room was comfortable, but the en suite was tiny. I enjoyed the veggie lasagna, even if it wasn’t presented very well. Breakfast was either a full English or cereal, and we went with cereal. The other guests’ full English looked like a full plate, while ours was just a small box of cereal and one slice. They call the inn 4 star, but it didn’t feel like other 4 star hotels. It’s not a standard hotel, though it does feel like part of the travel experience. Even so, we’d stay again.

The views are beautiful, and it’s just an amazing place to be. I’ve stopped at this pub many times, for meals including Sunday lunch and breakfast, and they’ve all been 10 out of 10. Alison and Anthony can’t do enough for you. The rooms are really clean and comfortable. I’ll be back. Thanks to a fab couple.

I live nearby, and this was the worst meal I’ve ever had in a pub. There was no draft ale or cider, and the room was cold. The soup came out cold too, with just a slice of white bread. I’m glad I didn’t try the Sunday lunch, which might have frozen to the plate in those sub-zero temperatures. This used to be a warm, welcoming pub with good food.

I wasn’t impressed. The evening vegetable lasagne was dry, and the shower was in the bedroom. Breakfast was nice until someone took the bacon I hadn’t ordered, since I don’t eat meat, off my plate with their fingers.
