The food was great, and the portions were big for the affordable prices. Alex, our server at dinner, was efficient and friendly, a real credit to the business. All the staff were lovely. We were impressed with the whole experience at the Limpley hotel. The room was cosy, clean and lovely, with stunning views and a great location. I'm not sure why some reviews give it under 5 stars. We'll be back every year from now on. Thank you for a wonderful stay. Oliver & Emily

The location was the only good part: the hotel is 3.5miles from central Bath. The rooms were cold, and the heating was off all night, making for an uncomfortable stay. I'd recommend bringing your own electric heater. I stayed in room 34, a standard double, and had to ask to move after the first night because it was too cold. They did accommodate me. My in-laws, who were travelling with us, had no heating for most of their stay and were cold much of the time. I was concerned for the older members of our group. The showers had no pressure because they were gravity fed, and the hotel is dated and due for modernisation. The buffet breakfast was a 4/10. I only found out there was a vegetarian option by overhearing another group, though the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. Nobody asked about my stay at checkout; I would have shared this feedback if they had. After a three-hour journey, the front desk staff weren't welcoming and were condescending on arrival. They insisted on separate registration for each of the three rooms we'd booked. When my father-in-law filled in his form, the woman was stern and abrupt. We had booked a standard twin with a view and an executive room as well, travelling with my in-laws and needing three rooms for the family. A Travelodge or Premier Inn might have been a better experience.

We especially loved the character of this 400-year-old building, rich with history. Coming from Canada, it was a memorable place to stay and left us with lovely memories. The peaceful countryside setting made for a relaxing break, and the comfortable accommodation offered excellent value for a 3-star hotel, exceeding our expectations. We appreciated the free parking and on-site electric vehicle charging station. Mr. George at reception greeted us warmly and was kind, efficient and helpful. Highly recommended! 👍🤩✨

Our plans changed after one night, and we checked out early because we felt let down by the lack of care and accountability. Booking.com later called the property to request a refund for us, but the property refused. When we arrived, despite staff knowing we'd been scammed, nobody apologized, acknowledged what had happened, or offered support. Before our stay at Best Western Limpley Stoke Hotel, booked through Booking.com, we received a WhatsApp message asking us to verify the booking. It included our full name, booking ID, dates and hotel name, and warned that our reservation could be cancelled if we didn't verify within 24 hours. It looked genuine, so we followed the link and entered our card details. We later found out it was a scam. After landing from our flight, we contacted the hotel. They said it was a known scam and that we shouldn't have entered any details. By then, all our cards had been compromised. We were later told the hotel had emailed guests about the scam, but we never received anything. We also got conflicting accounts about whether the breach was through the hotel or Booking.com. The fallout was stressful and took hours on the phone with banks. Our cards had to be cancelled and replaced, and we had to rely on a Wise account for money during the trip. The experience left us extremely disappointed. Future guests should be very cautious about messages requesting verification or card details, as this was handled very poorly.

The room was comfortable and well kept, with a great view. The bathroom had what we needed, and there were clean towels too. Staff were friendly and welcoming, so check-in was easy. I had a positive stay and would definitely come back to Bath if I visit again! :3
