The gardens are lovely, with roses, a pond and plenty of mature trees, and you can ask to play croquet or boules. Inside, the decor mixes Thai, Japanese, Chinese and Mexican pieces in a fun way without feeling overdone. The House near Bath Hotel is such a special, quirky place, and Rowena and Mike are warm, generous hosts who really suit it. The bed and linen were the most comfortable I've ever slept in, the views are gorgeous, and the minibar is priced like a pub. Breakfast beats what I've had at five star hotels, and the bar has drinks from independent UK distilleries and breweries. It feels so relaxed and homely that even the most stressed person could unwind. We've already decided to come back every year.

The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and breakfast was delicious, made with local ingredients. It's a lovely old house with quirky decor, and we got a really warm, friendly welcome. A few rooms could do with updating, though that's already underway. We'd happily stay again and recommend it.

Bath and other places in Somerset, including Longleat, were easy to get to from here. We had a large room with everything we needed, and the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of locally sourced food, great coffee and a lovely cooked meal. The bar had an interesting selection of beers and wines from the UK and Ireland. Rowena and Mike welcomed us so warmly that after four nights it felt like we were part of the family. We had a thoroughly enjoyable short break and couldn't have asked for better hosts. We'd definitely come back when we're in the area and recommend The House to our friends.

The shower pressure could have been better, and the decor could use a little attention, maybe a fresh coat of paint here and there. Those were the only things we could think to fault. My partner and I had a great long weekend at The House, and for a bed and breakfast we really couldn't ask for more. The bed was insanely comfortable, 10/10, and breakfast was delicious too, also 10/10. Compliments to Mike the chef! Rowena and Mike were excellent hosts, and I'm sure they'd have gone out of their way if we'd needed anything. I'd recommend it to anyone after a countryside break near Bath and the surrounding area.

My boyfriend and I first came as university students for a concert, and we've stayed twice since. The couple here were so lovely and welcoming, more like wonderful people than just hosts. That first visit has stayed special to me, and I hope we can return again. The room was stunning and breakfast incredible. I'd thoroughly recommend staying here in Bath. 10/10.
