We loved how friendly everyone was, and the bar has a lively atmosphere. We had a couple of drinks there and everyone was welcoming. Our room was above the bar, and we were told in advance there'd be noise until 12:30. It was indeed noisy, but we'd expected that when booking because it's a bar. The room was spotlessly clean and well appointed for the price. Continental breakfast had a sufficient choice of cereals, bread, cheese and yoghurt. Check-in came with plenty of helpful information, and before we arrived the owner moved her own car so we could use a space next to the bar. It's a good budget stopover, with Edinburgh just 25 minutes away by train.

Lorraine, the manageress, goes out of her way to help and keeps everything running smoothly. The rooms are spacious and clean, with a big comfortable bed, ensuite, towels and toiletries. There's tea and coffee in the room, and continental breakfast in the morning. Karaoke runs on Fridays and Saturdays, but finishes at a decent time and didn't disturb the guests.

We had a family do here and the staff were lovely. The rooms are a good size, and the warm, informal atmosphere suited our small to medium sized group. I can't recommend it highly enough. Thanks to the lovely lady who helped behind the scenes :)

The staff were fabulous and go the extra mile. It's clean and tidy, rates are reasonable, and the location works well for the surrounding area. Friday or Saturday nights could be noisy for some, though the rooms are above a pub so that shouldn't come as a surprise. I'd recommend the bar as well.

We felt so welcome. The staff were fantastic, the room was lovely, warm and cosy, and they gave us good information about what was happening in town. Breakfast was included and the price was very reasonable. I'll definitely come back.
