Crafted at Powdermills

The lake and natural setting are idyllic, and the layout and facilities worked perfectly for an afternoon and evening with our group of friends. Check-in was smooth and the staff were lovely. The room was shown to us, then my wife went to the hot tub while I made straight for the bar. They've built a great little English pub inside the hotel, one of the best hotel bars I've been in. There's a great choice of wines and beers on tap, and the bar snack menu was brilliant for pre-dinner nibbles. Dinner was fantastic, Côte du Boeuf for me, and the setting, atmosphere and service were all great. We spent the rest of the night having cocktails in the Green Room bar and relaxing in the lounges, which were perfect for an evening with friends. The decor throughout is very well done, and the cocktails were fantastic. I had a few too many! Breakfast was top quality too, I had the full English. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. I'll try the sauna, lake and other options myself next time, and hope to make it a whole weekend if I can. Well done to the team for creating such an amazing place.

The construction work really affected our stay. There was quite a bit of noise and disruption, with diggers around and lots of workmen and vans in the car park. We weren't warned beforehand or told about it during our visit. The site is also quite dark at night, especially when arriving by car after dark, and it would be nice to have a casual place to get a drink without being waited on. It didn't quite feel ready for guests. The hotel has recently been refurbished and the decor is lovely. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and we rarely had to wait long for anything. It's a great base for visiting Battle, Rye, Hastings and Bexhill. Breakfast was a highlight, the food in general was very good with lovely local produce, and our clean, nice room had everything we needed and a big comfortable bed.

Just back from an incredible weekend with friends at Crafted. We stayed in the beautiful Lake House cottage, which was spacious, comfortable and luxurious, with lovely views over the lake and comfortable beds and living areas. I'd never played padel before and loved it. Dinner and brekkie were delicious, served in super stylish rooms. I feel totally rejuvenated and can't wait to visit again. Well done to the team at Crafted, this place is a gem.

The food, service and decor were all lovely, and the attention to detail really stood out. We came for a birthday dinner in the private dining room last night, and the grounds and refurbishment look amazing. Some places try to reinvent themselves without putting in the effort, but they’ve really done it here. Thanks to everyone for a wonderful evening.
