The local ingredients menu and wide choice of drinks are a nice touch, and the family-run place has a warm, friendly feel. We had loads to choose from: the falafel burger is a must, the fish and chips were delicious, and the fish finger sandwich came with lovely goujons, though the menu really undersells it. Desserts were plentiful and interesting too. Portions are more than fair for the price, and everything was tasty and interesting. The service was phenomenal, and those onion rings are ENORMOUS!

I can't say anything about the rooms since I've never stayed, but I eat and drink here often and the service has always been faultless. The food's nice, the staff are friendly and glad to help, and it's one of my three regular spots for a pint. In winter, it's lovely when the old log burner is going. The customers make for a nice crowd, never rowdy or boisterous in my experience. You often see well-behaved kids eating with their parents, so it has a family feel. There's plenty of outdoor seating, including an area under a large canopy. Just a heads-up, wasps were a nuisance the last time I sat outside in summer. That's my only complaint, and it's not something you can blame the staff for. It's clean, tidy, and well kept, with tables often reserved for diners. 10/10 for the service, presentation, decor, and layout.

The bar and restaurant had a good atmosphere, and both dinner and breakfast were really good. Staff were superb and happy to help at any time. The rooms are on the small side, which is about what you'd expect in an old pub, but ours was clean and nicely presented. The ensuite had useful accessories and a good shower. Free WiFi is a real plus, though the signal was very weak in our room and good in the bar. I don't often give five stars, but this cozy pub deserves them.

We went to a Wake here, and the staff handled it wonderfully and with real respect. The setting by the mill pond is amazing, with easy parking, and the food was great. It's got a lovely rustic feel, and the staff are great too. Peaceful and relaxed.

The location is great and there's plenty of parking. Lunch was excellent for the most part, with generous servings and a good variety of vegetables. The belly pork was perfectly cooked, and the Yorkshire was huge. The cauliflower cheese let the meal down a bit, though. It was overcooked and rather sad. I like dogs, but having one bark for ages at the next table while its owners seemed amused was irritating when we were trying to enjoy lunch and chat.
