Alexandra Park Avenue Town House

It was a clean, quiet place, and I had a really nice stay at Alexandra's house for a couple of days. The other guests were lovely and made things comfortable, though I didn't get to know them well. That little Chinese girl was adorable, may God bless her. After paying for the booking at Alexandra, you get codes for entry to the building and collecting the key. If you arrive at check-in time, you can call and they'll help; if you don't, the process is easy anyway, so no need to worry.

The room and Wi-Fi were great, and for the price this is fantastic value. I'd have paid twice as much for the cheapest hotels in the centre. I rated it 7/10 on booking.com. It's a room in a house, so the kitchen, bathroom and living room are shared. The walk into town suited me, but you'd need to take a bus or taxi if you're not fairly fit.

A quiet residential spot about a mile and a half from the city centre, and very good value. There are plenty of nearby shops, including two large supermarkets, plus a park. Yorkgate train station and local buses are easy to reach.

I was meant to stay for three extra nights. But when I asked why another £17 had been added to my bill, they put my things outside, charged the card I used through Booking.com, and threw some of my belongings in the bin. With card details on file, I can't see why a customer would refuse to pay. Now the owner is again claiming in a response to my honest review that I didn't check out on time. That's completely untrue. They are fraudulent and will go to any lengths to overcharge you. I have photos as evidence. Avoid these liars and heartless people. They shouldn't be in hospitality. They were horrible to deal with, and I won't forget them anytime soon.
