The studio at Cushy Rooms and Apartments at Nelson Place was comfortable, well equipped, and in a welcoming atmosphere. I stayed for five nights and had a good experience overall. The location was handy, especially for students. There was no room service during my stay, which was inconvenient, and it would have helped to have extra shampoo or shower gel. I still enjoyed the nice studio and surroundings, though improving those services would make the stay better.

The toilet in my current room has stopped flushing, and when I reported it, I was told, “Sorry, we can’t help it tonight,” and to wait until the next day. They acknowledged it as a priority, but I was still expected to go all night without a working toilet. That was unacceptable. My move from Alma Place to Little Patrick has been one problem after another all year, including having to change rooms. The staff are friendly, and I understand things can go wrong, but they've been far from helpful when it comes to fixing actual issues. It's been one of my worst accommodation experiences, and based on how these problems have been handled, I wouldn't recommend Little Patrick.

The night staff are so helpful, especially Jodie. It’s a great place to live as a student, and I’d recommend it to anyone starting out.

The rooms and shared spaces are lovely, and the bathrooms are great. Reception staff have been really helpful too. It can get warm, though, since the large windows don’t open very far. The laundry costs add up fast: over £5 for a wash, then another £2.20 per hour for the dryer. At £7.50 a load, it feels pretty anti-student.

The room heater has been broken for five days, and despite emails, management said it wasn’t an emergency. It’s nearly freezing, so my wife and daughter have been enduring cold nights. We even tried using the gas stove for heat, then had to buy a small heater ourselves. In this climate, a working heater should be treated as urgent, especially when the rent is £840 a month. It’s already overpriced for what’s provided, and this response makes me feel they don’t care about residents’ wellbeing. I regret choosing this for my family. It’s been a nightmare. There were problems from the start. The room had uncomfortable yellow lighting, and when we asked for white lights, nothing was done. A sewage smell persisted in the bathroom despite repeated requests, and the bed was in terrible condition with no action taken after we complained. The window screen broke and took 2-3 weeks to repair. Even a simple £10 lightbulb replacement was ignored, and when we offered to pay extra for cleaning, we got no reply. Getting help is difficult. Reception is often unmanned, and when someone is there, they can be lethargic and dismiss concerns as “not emergencies.” Emails seem to go in circles, with messages forwarded but no resolution for weeks. One minor issue took over a month. The shared gas stove is often occupied too, so we’ve waited more than an hour just to cook. The service is extremely poor, and I’d strongly advise others to avoid this accommodation. They wouldn’t accept a late rent payment, so I don’t understand why delays to essential services are acceptable. Please don’t choose Student Roost - Little Patrick Street or Amber Student accommodations. They’re unresponsive, overpriced, and provide terrible service.
