Simon was helpful and available for any questions. We had a beautiful, spacious place for two nights over half term, and it was clean and well equipped. Worked perfectly for our family of five, with a toddler, a preteen and a teenager. 10/10!

The surroundings were beautiful, and I loved hearing the birds over my morning coffee. At dusk we even spotted a tawny owl and a bat. The clean, well-maintained lodge had welcome toiletries, a cleaning pack and tea and coffee, which were especially appreciated after a long drive. One small suggestion: a coat hook in the hall cupboard would be useful, as there's plenty of room for one. The campsite wasn't in use at this time of year, but the pitches looked spacious and well kept. The shop had only a few basics, though the village with a lid is a short 5 min drive away, and other supermarkets are within 15/20 min.

We're back for our second stay at chestnut meadow, and we love it. The lodge is lovely, clean and well maintained, and the staff are attentive across the whole complex.

This was a complete waste of money. I booked a pod for an overnight stay while working in Bexhill to save myself two hours of driving, but when I arrived it was pitch black, with no lights on and no advance information to say which pod was mine. No one answered when I called, so I had to message through their site. Eventually someone called back and told me the pod number. There was no water in the pod, no directions to the bathroom facilities, and everything was still completely dark. I ended up driving home anyway. A refund would be much appreciated. I'll never stay there again.

We had such a good time we wished we'd stayed longer, and would definitely come back. The lodge felt warm and comfortable during our rainy winter stay, and the hot tub was great. We could see the stars clearly from it, which helped make up for the lack of outdoor path lights on the way to the shop. The kitchen was equipped, and the small shop by reception was handy in this slightly rural area. The customer service was good, with quick replies to my questions via air bnb even though we hadn't booked there. We loved the cosy rustic panelled cottage feel, the electric fireplace, and the well-designed main bedroom with its walk-in wardrobe, dressing area and en suite. My only tiny complaint was that the TV remote kept losing signal despite getting help and having its battery replaced.
