I only came for food, so I can't rate the hotel itself. The staff were really friendly, and the place had a lively atmosphere with quaint, pretty decor. There's a good menu. We picked small plates for a tapas style dinner, and everything was delicious apart from the charcuterie board. Its meats seemed like very cheap packet ones, which was a shame when the rest was so lovely. I'd definitely come back, though.
We tried this place for the first time last weekend and were served quickly after being seated. The staff were really welcoming, and we didn't wait long for the food. My chicken burger was honestly the best I've ever had, and my friend really enjoyed her halloumi burger too. The food was excellent. We'll definitely be back, highly recommend.
The food was excellent, but the rest of the stay was disappointing. I booked through Google on The Plough website for my husband's 60th birthday, with breakfast included and a deposit required. I paid, booked, then emailed a few weeks ahead to double check everything. When we arrived, the bedroom floor had what looked like a poo stain. We were told it was tar from a workman. The bedroom drawers were missing, it was very dusty, and the bedside light didn't work. The kettle and coffee maker couldn't reach the plug, so we had to use them on the floor. Breakfast wasn't served Monday to Thursday. When I tried to sort it out, they made it feel like my fault for booking online and said breakfast wasn't included, calling it a Google issue. They did take some money off and gave us breakfast the next day, but after that we felt they treated us with an attitude. They hadn't taken the deposit either, so when I went to pay the balance, it was the full price. When I asked about the missing deposit, that was thrown back at me as my fault too. I honestly wish I'd never booked. It spoiled what I'd planned.
The pub food was amazing, and the service and staff were wonderful. Nothing felt like too much trouble. My only issue was the bathroom in the bedroom. It was so tiny I could hardly move, and I don't think I could have stayed more than one night. Aside from that, it was a lovely place, with lovely food and staff.
We had an excellent Xmas meal yesterday evening at the Bicester UPVC and Global Xmas party. There were at least 35 of us, and everyone got their food while it was still hot. The plates were all to an excellent standard, and the food was good. Staff were attentive, polite and smiley.
