Southdown B&B

After travelling across Europe, we hadn't found anywhere that came close to this B&B. Helen & Brian were exceptional hosts, warm, engaging and friendly, and ready to help with anything we needed. They made staying in their home an absolute pleasure. The premises, food, room and location were all first class. I'd highly recommend booking with Brian & Helen if you're travelling this way. You won't regret it.

There's not much to do nearby, which suited us since we sometimes need a nudge to actually rest. Clovelly is unique and one of the prettiest villages we've seen anywhere, so it's well worth visiting. Take care on the narrow country lanes and drive slowly. The hosts are warm people with big hearts. Brian's fried eggs reminded me of my mother's cooking, and Helen's bespoke-quality homemade soap in the bathroom was lovely. If she ever starts selling it, I want to know straight away! Our room was spacious, cosy, spotless and had a magnificent view. Parking was adequate, and there's a garden with a few tables for reading outside. The place and the people are both charming. Local people are very friendly and welcoming.

The owners were really pleasant and couldn't have been more helpful. It's a delightful b@b, with an excellent room and everything you need. There was a lovely breakfast with plenty of choice, which worked particularly well for my partner's dietary problems. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone staying in the area.

A lovely B&B in the hartland area. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and made it feel like home. Breakfast was a perfect start to the day. My wife and I would recommend staying here and would happily return.
