We loved the location. Tesco is less than five minutes away, yet the cottage feels tucked out in the middle of nowhere. There are plenty of dog-friendly places around, Bideford is a lovely little town to wander around, and Westward Ho! is only 15 minutes away with lots of accessible beaches nearby. We stayed in the cottage rather than at the farm, and it was one of the best cottages I've stayed in. It's set apart from the other accommodation and feels very private, apart from the sheep! The garden is fully enclosed, so we didn't have to worry about our dog. Just be aware that a dog that isn't sheep friendly might be a problem, since the wire fence gives a clear view of them. The hot tub was amazing, though it did lose water during the week. The front garden lighting didn't seem to work, either. The kitchen is mostly equipped, but there's no kitchen scissors. We brought our own sharp knives and the Ninja. Beds were okay, though I regretted leaving my own pillow behind because I'm a bit fussy about pillows. That's just me!

It was great for the kids to get that feeling of being on a farm, and the views were lovely. The farmer and team were accommodating, and we felt safe and secure. The cottage was comfortable, warm and very well equipped in every way. There was plenty of space, ample parking and a supermarket very close by. We went slightly out of season and couldn't really find a negative point.

We spent most afternoons using the good swimming pool, and the hot tub was lovely too. The beds were so comfortable, and it was peaceful waking up to a field of gorgeous sheep. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay at The garden cottage.

I've stayed here a few times, and the cottage has had a revamp since my earlier visits. I've been twice since, in March & June, and it's a big improvement. The hot tub and private patio are great, and everything is as clean, neat and tidy as always. Richard the owner is a lovely chap. The only tiny niggle is that it's hard to get traction reversing around one corner of the sloped gravel driveway. We got used to turning in the middle and worked around it.

We had a great week in Garden cottage. It has everything you need to feel at home, and the whole family loved the hot tub and heated swimming pool. Really nice holiday accommodation, and I'd definitely recommend staying at Pillhead Farm. Visited August 2021
