The Hoops Inn

The bar had a lovely mix of local people and guests, and James and his team were so friendly and helpful. Nothing seemed too much trouble. We had a great break, with a lovely room, excellent pub food and really fresh breakfasts. We'll be back soon.

We stayed one night on the drive home from Cornwall. It's a characterful, very old pub, and there was plenty of parking at the back. Our standard room was compact, but the bed was comfortable and we slept well. The weather was appalling, so we were glad of the good heating in the room and the bathroom towel rail for drying our clothes. The shower was great, too. The pub rang to ask if we'd like to book a table. I explained that our dog barks at anything that moves and isn't great in restaurants, so they put us in the snug off the bar. It was perfect: plenty of space to keep our noisy dog under control under the table without disturbing anyone else. It was such a relief to have a stress-free meal out with him. The staff were fabulous, and the food was masterchef quality. We both had the lamb rump and really enjoyed it. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We've already booked our next visit after a great two-night stay. The rooms were cosy, the breakfast and evening meal were excellent, and all the staff were lovely and friendly.

Full of history and character, this pub is absolutely gorgeous. We had excellent food, and my chocolate parfait dessert was incredible. There's outdoor seating, parking is easy, and dogs are welcome. Brilliant.
