Cornhill Castle Hotel

Our bedroom, Glamis, was spacious and clean, with a large bathroom, jacuzzi bath and shower. The only drawback was that the window looked onto a roof, so there was no view. The hotel is lovely and sits in beautiful surroundings, with decor that suits the building. We had dinner and breakfast there, and both the tasty, nicely presented food and the welcoming, friendly, helpful staff made a great impression. I’d recommend both meals.

The food was good, and the menu looked good too, but the service was pretty awful. We waited 1 hour 40 minutes after booking and had only been given a bowl of soup. Staff weren’t attentive, and I had to remind them about cutlery and keep asking for drinks. It felt like amateur hour. They cost themselves money because we didn’t order more food or drinks that we might have ordered if anyone had offered them. 🤷‍♂️

The staff made the wedding feel personal, with warm, attentive service that seemed to come from genuinely caring about everyone’s day. The castle is full of charm, and the countryside around it is breathtaking. We were there for friends’ wedding, our first stay at Cornhill Castle Hotel, and the setting took us by surprise. Our room was elegant but cosy, with classic decor and thoughtful touches. Breakfast was included in the room rate and served buffet-style. It was tasty and satisfying, with enough choice, though not the most extravagant we’ve had. The staff were lovely again, friendly and helpful without hovering. The wedding was gorgeous and carefully arranged. We left feeling relaxed and happy, already wondering when we might come back. I’d recommend Cornhill Castle Hotel for a romantic break or a special occasion.

We were here for a wedding on Friday the 14th, and the whole day and the food were excellent. The staff were great, especially Alice at reception, if I’ve got her name right. The hot tub lodge was lovely, with amazing views of Tinto.
