Ababeel Restaurant & Hotel

The place felt welcoming, clean, quiet and safe, including for women and Muslims. I was grateful when someone carried my luggage upstairs because I was struggling to lift my bags. I paid less than half what my colleagues paid at Holiday Inn, so it was great value. Highly recommend. Tip: It's welcoming and safe, stays quiet, and has hot water around the clock.

The room was clean, tidy and well aired, and the huge bed was very comfortable. I like a cooler room than most, and this one suited me perfectly. The welcome was warm too. They offered me coffee, tea or juice and helped carry my bags upstairs. Excellent service. I hadn't noticed when booking that the bathroom was shared, though I never saw the person or people I was supposed to share it with. The sink was dirty and had hair in it, the mixer faucet was loose but still worked, and the toilet seat was broken, so I nearly fell off. The restaurant was closed, leaving a takeaway about a five-minute walk away or ordering in as the options. Even with those issues, it was a pleasant stay.

For £49 I had a single room with its own shower and toilet, and would recommend the hotel. The room was a decent size, clean, freshly decorated and had a comfortable bed. There were tea and coffee making facilities and a couple of nice biscuits. The staff were very helpful when I couldn't find the TV remote. The bathroom was very compact, and I could have used more than one hand towel, though I'm sure they'd have provided one if I'd asked. It's a shame the restaurant is closed and there's no breakfast at present while the kitchen is being refurbished. I'll use it again.
