Best Western Westley Hotel

The bathroom was spotless and nice, and our room above the function hall was surprisingly peaceful. There’s plenty of parking, too. The staff were friendly, though the property feels dated, with tired carpets and creaking floorboards. We didn’t try the bar or restaurant, so I can’t comment on those.

The Westley Arms would be my first call for a happier event, and I’d highly recommend it as a venue. We held my mother’s wake there for around 250 people, and I’m very glad we chose it after looking at local options and hearing personal recommendations. The day ran smoothly, with professional staff looking after everyone. The bar was well staffed and had no queues; tea and coffee were kept topped up when requested, and the food was exceptional. We got several compliments about it. The prices were toward the lower end of the market, but the quality was top end. The room was set up really well, and they provided music, projectors, and stands. Nothing was too much trouble. From beginning to end, the staff were helpful, supportive, and communicative. As a family, we couldn’t have asked for more. The Westley has a great, close-knit team, and they made us feel valued as customers. It’s a day I’ll never repeat, but I’d use the venue again for happier occasions.

The good food and lovely atmosphere were let down by the parking. They’ve handed parking control to a third party, and nobody told us, so we ended up with a fine. Staff could have reminded us to check the parking, but they didn’t. It left a sour taste and is why I’ve given two stars.

A nice, quiet hotel, and I’ll definitely stay again. Check-in staff and the team in the bar were both very friendly. The room was nicely laid out, the bed was decent, and the shower worked well. I didn’t have to kneel down to wash my hair, which was a bonus. Good food, a nice choice of bottled and tap beers, and very reasonable prices.
