I’d confirmed my arrival time by message before coming, but when I got there, they’d overbooked and hadn’t held my room. They blamed other things instead of accepting what seemed clearly to be their mistake, and were no help with finding another place. I had to call Booking.com’s emergency resolution line to arrange alternative accommodation. Overbooking can happen, but being rude to a guest for something that wasn’t my fault was wrong.

It felt like a traditional bed and breakfast, and made a comfortable stopover. Breakfast was included, with cereal and toast to choose from, and there’s a selection of books to enjoy. The room had a kettle and cups, with tea, coffee, milk and sugar. Extra blankets are in the wardrobe if you get cold. There’s a reading lamp, though it wasn’t very effective, but the two wall lights worked well enough. I’d definitely recommend it.

The hosts were lovely and the place was warm. They made it feel like a home away from home.
