The top floor had a wonderful view, and the outdoor seating area would be lovely for morning coffee in summer. Staff were welcoming. It’s a conference based university hotel, close to the city center but quieter and cheaper. The place was very clean. A couple of things kept it from being a five star stay. The plugs are older, so if you travel with only a cable for a USB ready plug, you’ll need an actual plug to charge. The bathroom was clean, roomy and had a bath, but its colour and decoration felt a little dated. Otherwise, I’d certainly use it again. It’s very fairly priced.

The room was warm, but there was a fan that ran quietly enough for me to sleep. I also appreciated the powerful shower and the plenty of towels. I didn’t have time for breakfast, the restaurant or the bar, but they all looked inviting and I’d like to try them next time. From my window I could see a large, beautiful courtyard with tables and outdoor lights, which made it feel like a proper holiday. The complimentary gym access was a big factor in choosing this place, and the gym was bigger than any hotel gym I’ve used. I didn’t get a chance to try the sauna, steam room or pool. For the price, it was a wonderful stay, with amazingly friendly, helpful staff. I already knew before going to bed that I’d stay here again if I was in the area.

Everyone I spoke to was lovely and helpful, and the restaurant staff member I dealt with was especially kind. I ordered a burger for room service, then got a call ten minutes later saying they’d run out. She called back a few times with alternatives, clearly keen to get me a meal. But I wasn’t told it would take an hour and a half to reach my room. I only found out it was because they were busy, and if I’d known sooner I could have chosen whether to wait. It felt odd that they’d called to keep my custom when they were already so busy. I was there for one business night. The room was okay, though a little disappointing for a four star hotel. There was a ball of gum stuck to the table that looked removable but had been left there. I was also surprised there was no air conditioning. I wouldn’t rule out recommending the hotel, but given my experience, I think there are better options at a similar price.

My second visit was just as good as the first. Isra was so kind and welcoming, exactly the reassurance you need after an eight hour journey. She’s a credit to the team. The restaurant staff were attentive again, and the menu was delicious, with great vegetarian options. Thanks as well to the breakfast hosts. The man greeting everyone brought so much warmth and energy. Five stars again, and thanks to everyone for the hospitality. On my first visit, booked through work for a business trip, I was glad this was the hotel we chose. The reception team were fantastic, thorough and attentive. I didn’t catch everyone’s name, but the young man with round glasses was particularly helpful. Our room was lovely, clean and well looked after, and the bed was very comfortable. There were great facilities, though a safe in the room would have been useful. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate were provided. There were plenty of fresh water options with fruit near reception, a lovely touch. At breakfast, the young woman who welcomed us explained everything for our first visit, and another helpful woman showed us how to use the coffee machine without making us feel silly. Breakfast was good value, with hot and cold choices. The restaurant had excellent food, generous portions and reasonable prices, and the staff were lovely and helpful. I’d highly recommend staying here if you’re visiting Birmingham. Thank you.

For my conference, the location is convenient, and the staff I’ve met have been lovely, accommodating and friendly. But I travel for work and stay in hotels every week, and this room misses basic comforts. It’s stuffy, with barely any air coming through the small window openings and no way to control the temperature. The bed is outright uncomfortable, and the curtains don’t fit properly, so you’re awake as soon as the sun comes up. Great people can’t make up for that, and I don’t think it’s worth staying here.
