Breakfast was delicious, fresh and made with very good produce. There was plenty to choose from, from yoghurt and cereal to croissants, cakes and fruit. The English breakfast was great too, with sausages, beans, eggs, hash browns, black pudding and bacon. The room had two queen size beds, which would work well for a family with kids. The bathroom came with good quality plant based shampoo, shower gel and body lotion. We stayed one night at the Crowne Plaza Birmingham. The hotel is nice, with quiet rooms and a pleasant lobby bar. The location is excellent, an easy walk and just minutes from the city. Check-in was very friendly, and although we arrived well before the official 3PM check-in, they gave us a room. The staff were very friendly throughout. We did have to change rooms because the aircon was so noisy, but the next room had the same problem, with a loud, vibrating unit. We didn’t need aircon, so turning it off was fine for the weekend. If you need it, though, sleep could be difficult in either of the rooms we had. Without that issue, I’d rate the hotel five stars. There’s a car park under the hotel, but we used Q-Park. Booking through JustPark can get you a good discount if you park for more than a day. It was secure and well lit.

I paid for parking when I left, but it was later rejected because my car had been in a “registered bay.” The bay wasn’t labelled, and nobody told me where to park. I’d moved the car downstairs at midnight because hotel staff said the underground car park was safer for my new car. Fifteen days later, UKPC sent me a £60 parking charge. When I called, the receptionist suggested it might be because I’d used a numbered space, as though I should have known. If parking in the right area matters in such a large, nearly empty car park, staff should explain that at check-in. Pointing me to signs after the fact doesn’t help a first-time guest. I was going to leave a five-star review, but the response to my complaint made it seem as if the car park had nothing to do with the hotel, even though its staff told me to park there. As an IHG Platinum Elite member, I’ve stayed at plenty of IHG hotels and know something about parking. I can’t recommend this place with parking so confusing and costly. I’d rather stay outside town somewhere with free parking.

The room was just right for a night with my daughter: plenty of room, two double beds, and air conditioning that was very welcome during the heat wave. Breakfast was excellent, and the kitchen and serving staff were amazing. Reception was friendly at check-in and helped me quickly when I needed toiletries in a hurry. We were in town for a concert at the arena, and the hotel’s location was ideal for both the venue and shopping. It was handy having parking right underneath. If we go to another concert there, I’ll definitely stay again. Thanks to Jenny for leaving our room so clean and welcoming :)

The breakfast setup could use some thought: on weekdays there was only one coffee machine, and with so many guests it caused delays that affected people’s schedules. I hope management will improve that. My stay from April 17 to April 20 was otherwise very satisfying. The housekeeping team kept everything exceptionally clean, and one member of that team especially stood out for their work. At the front desk, Mr. Ash, Mr. Seano, and Mr. Finn were professional, friendly, and attentive. They answered all my questions clearly and helpfully, which made me feel much more comfortable. I’m grateful for their service and wanted management to hear that feedback. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Even with the hotel full and a major sports tournament happening nearby, there was always a staff member available when we needed help. The rooms and shared areas were consistently tidy and clean, and the team here has been the best I’ve come across in a hotel for a long time. Staff really make the difference. It’s right in the city centre, too. We have another trip coming up and have cancelled our previous booking to rebook here. Thank you, Crown Plaza. You should be proud of your staff!
