This is a terrible building, and centrick is the worst management. They don't seem to care about residents' safety. The doors were broken for six months, and homeless people were getting inside to sleep, urinate, smoke and leave syringes on the stairs. The lifts break every week, and management doesn't seem to care about fixing them. Imagine dealing with that if you have kids, are pregnant, or have physical difficulties. It's hell. I've complained by email and raised concerns, but they still don't do their job. Don't move here, it's not worth it.
The lack of any response from management after I asked them to review the CCTV is worrying. I’ve reported the theft to the police, but still haven’t heard back from them. My parcel was delivered to the communal area at about 6pm on 3 May. A neighbour saw it there around 10pm, then it was stolen sometime between then and 2:30am. The whole thing has left me upset and feeling less secure in my own home. Residents need to be able to trust the building is safe, and I can’t say that feels true right now. Centrick needs to improve both building security and how parcels are handled, and keep residents informed. I hope they take this seriously and make changes.
Roughly once a month, the fire service has to come out because the alarm goes off in the middle of the night. There’s no caretaker or security staff here now to sort these problems out. Residents who silenced the alarm were threatened with charges, and the owners then locked the control panel so the fire service can’t switch it off. The owners should be fined for repeatedly wasting emergency services’ time.
There was a point when we had no running water for days. The fire alarm is unreliable too, and when it does go off it’s usually a false alarm. I have no confidence the building would keep people safe in a real emergency. The place is filthy. Dogs get in and urinate and defecate in the hallways, entrances, and lifts. The smell is awful, and this feels like a health hazard. I’ll attach photos of the dog mess in the building and lifts because it’s hard to convey how bad it is in words. The lifts break down every few days, sometimes more often, and you can’t know whether you’ll be delayed or stuck. The staircases are dirty and unsafe as well. Broken locks mean homeless people regularly sleep inside, including in the stairwells and by the mail area. This isn’t a criticism of them, it’s Centrick failing to secure the building and protect tenants. The car park entrance gate has been broken for months, leaving more than 100 cars open to theft or vandalism. Anyone can walk or drive in. The ANPR cameras keep malfunctioning and sending incorrect tickets to people who parked properly, so you pay for parking and still get hassled. Living here feels like a daily fight with dirt, insecurity, and incompetence. Centrick lets the property deteriorate without fixing things, while tenants keep paying rent for somewhere that doesn’t feel fit to live in. It’s a disgrace, and dealing with it has become a battle for my mental health. Don’t rent here. Avoid this property.
The courtyard is well looked after, and the view is amazing. It’s a nice spot to sit and rest. Digbeth is an up-and-coming area, with the Bullring about a 10-minute walk away and clubs nearby. The Airbnb lets do get misused and cause problems with people taking residential parking. I suppose it’s for the landlords to deal with, though there’s only so much you can do. Now a private company gives fines or tickets to people who park where they shouldn’t.
