Our hostess was welcoming and friendly, and gave us tips on places to visit in Birmingham. The included English breakfast was okay, though not great. By the time the toast got to us it was cold, the bacon tasted microwaved, and we could have done with more than one mushroom each. We wanted an affordable place with free parking for our first visit to Birmingham, and this B&B was comfortable, if dated and in need of a revamp. The bed was small but comfortable. Our clean room faced Coventry road and was a little noisy. For £60 a night, it was a nice, affordable stay.

I understand the terms say check-in closes at 9pm, but I arrived ten minutes after that after driving for over two hours, and they wouldn’t let me in. The owner was very rude and showed no compassion or flexibility. I was left out on the street and out of pocket. I can’t recommend staying here. If you do, don’t expect anything beyond the bare minimum. The rooms looked alright online, but I never got to see them in person, so I can’t fairly say more about them.

Marilyn was a warm, friendly host, and I had a cosy room with a comfortable bed and hot shower. There’s a nearby world food restaurant and pub where you can eat as much as you like for £14.99. I stayed two nights for the Birmingham Dive show at the NEC and paid £70 for a single room. I parked for free on the adjacent road. The X1 bus from Tesco across the road goes to the NEC, costing £2.40 one way or £4.60 return, a cheaper option than the £12 NEC car park.
