Holiday Inn Birmingham M6 Jct 7 Hotel

The rooms were clean and tidy, and the bathrooms were clean too. They could use a few standard touch-ups. The TV was a good size and smart, with all your favourites on it. Staff were friendly, approachable and quick to help. We ordered pizza and nachos, both good, and service was fast. There was plenty of good parking. I did eventually find my room, but it took some effort. Getting here is a pain since it’s easy to miss the junction.

The warm pool was a fun way to start the day, and our little one loved the restaurant’s kids’ corner, books and toys. The staff made us feel very welcome. At check-in they gave our two-year-old a colouring pack, and there was free fruit available. The room and bathroom were clean and we all slept well. Restaurant staff were lovely, the food was well cooked, and the three-course kids’ meal was free, which was amazing. Breakfast the next morning was brilliant too. It’s an easy place to reach and a good distance from the city centre, so I’d recommend it to families visiting Birmingham.

We had a spotless, spacious room that was accessible, and it was much better than a similarly priced accessible room at Premier Inn. The welcome was warm, and the bar area looked lovely. It’s well placed for continuing on to Birmingham NEC. Dogs are allowed for a small extra charge. Thanks, Holiday Inn, for a stress-free stay! 😊

I’ve stayed at other IHG hotels and this is easily one of the worst. I’ve decided I won’t come back. The two reception staff had an aggressive, dismissive, blasé manner that felt close to confrontational. It took both of them to check me in for two nights. I was put in a supposed double superior room on the ground floor, but it had two single beds pushed together under one sheet and furniture cluttering the room. The TV picture kept pixelating every couple of seconds, so I had to turn it off to avoid getting a fit. I had no choice but to go back to reception and insist on moving to the first floor, where I’d stayed last time. The receptionist was reluctant, but did reassign me. It was 30 degrees outside, so I asked if rooms had fridges. She said only superior rooms did. I told her mine didn’t have one, but she insisted she’d just put me in a superior room. After going back and forth, she checked a room map and realised she had assigned me one. They don’t seem to know their own hotel. The carpets were stained and filthy. On my previous stay they hadn’t even been vacuumed, and although I told staff, nobody cleaned the room. They changed the sheets, but nothing else. They also don’t offer breakfast boxes for early departures. They just said, “we don’t do ‘em!”
