ibis Birmingham Bordesley Circus

We were happy with our four-night stay and thought it was superb value, given the short walk to the city centre. The room was clean, spacious, well equipped and comfortable enough for a longer visit. Staff were all welcoming and polite, and when we had a problem with the shower it was sorted straight away. The bed could have been a bit comfier and the room a little cooler, but those are small quibbles. The Covid arrangements were thoughtfully planned.

The hotel seemed clean, and the staff were friendly. I liked the room layout, especially the bathroom, which is almost capsule-like with a stand-in shower inside. It's about a five-minute drive to the Bullring or a half-hour walk. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but we still enjoyed our stay.

The room was quiet, which was a plus, and the location was okay, though there were lots of beggars around. I stayed two nights and expected better service from Ibis, so I came away disappointed. The staff seemed friendly, but I didn't ask them for much, and I'm still waiting for the TV remote I requested. The TV didn't work. The room had just one chair and one clothes hanger, which isn't ideal for a couple, and there was no safe or air conditioning. The shower water escaped beyond the glass, and the carpet hadn't been cleaned between nights, with litter left there since day one. The towels were cheap and smelled bad on the second day. Whether those things matter will depend on what you need, but they mattered to me.

I came back to Birmingham hoping to stay here again because, two years ago, the crew gave me excellent service during my ten-day stay. This time, a crew member came outside and was extremely rude, telling me there were no rooms available. I understand rooms can be fully booked, but he wouldn't even let me into reception and shouldn't have spoken to me that way. You should choose your employees better. Thanks.
