The noise meant I couldn’t sleep at all. The window wouldn’t shut properly, so I heard drunk people yelling outside through the night, and around 2am the bathroom pipes started squeaking loudly and constantly. I left early in the morning and checked into a proper hotel, which was infinitely better. The bed was filthy, with a flimsy mattress, dirty looking towels, and cushions that smelled so bad I couldn’t rest my head on them. There were bed bugs too, which is completely unacceptable and a serious health concern. The stairwell stank, and the area between the Gay Village and Chinatown felt dirty, smelly, and unpleasant. This place is unhygienic and badly maintained, and I don’t think it’s fit for guests. Avoid at all costs.

I liked the room, but I wouldn’t book here again. Outside noise came straight through the windows, which weren’t airtight, and there was also a high pitched sound in the hallway. Both kept disturbing my sleep when I’d come to relax. I messaged the owner and they didn’t seem to care enough to reply. I’ve told my friends to cancel their bookings, and I can’t recommend the place.
Everything was fine except the taps and shower make a loud, horrible noise again and again when you use them. You can hear it when other people use them too.
The one good thing was the comfortable bed. The room itself was much smaller than the photos suggested, the hallway was dirty, and the lift was very old. It was hard to find, and with all the different entry and exit codes, a hotel would’ve been easier. My friend booked through booking.com two weeks before we arrived, had confirmation, and had already discussed check-in. Then, just three hours before we were due in, they said the room had been priced incorrectly and wanted another £90. We were already in Birmingham with nowhere else to stay. They said they’d forgotten to raise the price with pride being on. I explained that we were two women from out of town and would be stranded without the room, but they still said it would be gone unless we paid extra. Eventually they offered to take £60 more, so we felt we had no choice and paid in cash as instructed. Changing the price after confirming the booking, especially so close to check-in, was inconsiderate. They didn’t seem to care that we had no other place to go, and the whole thing was stressful for both of us. I’d never stay there again.
The suites are stunning and in a fantastic location, and the man we spoke with was quick, professional, and understanding. That’s why I’ve given two stars. The first room was filthy, with powder and sugar on the surfaces, a dirty bathroom, and white solid stuff all over the grey bed covers under the sheets. It looked like the cleaner had simply pulled the sheet back over without checking. The owner was easy to reach and changed our room. The replacement was clean, but still not clean enough. They really need to sack the cleaning staff.
