Old Rose and Crown Hotel

We had a lovely Christmas dinner at the old Rose and Crown, our first time celebrating there. The location is lovely, and our party of 15 had a beautifully decorated table, like the other dining tables. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the food arrived piping hot and delicious. We weren’t rushed between courses. It was a real treat, and we’d definitely book again.

We made the slightly silly decision to get married, and meeting Andrew and Dawn made us sure it was the right one. Dawn works incredibly hard and will go out of her way to help. Andrew is attentive and nothing is too much trouble. The staff keep going to serve drinks and food, and even help with your room. It’s a great venue with great people. If you’re thinking of getting married here, go and see it and book, you won’t regret it.

The building looks lovely, but the rooms and bathrooms are very dated. The windows are so old that cold air comes straight in, and they had mould on them.

We stayed for two nights for my brother’s wedding at the venue, and the location of the old rose & crown is beautiful and picturesque. The hotel answered my questions quickly and professionally before we arrived, and check-in was fast and easy. Dawn checked us in and was amazing. I’d mentioned it was our youngest child’s birthday that day, and she went out of her way to make it special with a card, balloon and treats. He felt very special. On the wedding day, Dawn and Andrew were incredibly helpful, and nothing was too much trouble. The staff worked hard to make sure everything went smoothly.
