The room was clean and the bed comfortable enough, but this wasn’t one of my better hotel stays. The heating switched itself on and off whenever it felt like it, the walls were so thin that noise carried easily, and the lift was out of order. My room was on the top floor, only two floors up, but I’m lazy. There were very few staff around, so the same woman took my order, cooked the food and served me. She was great, though the setup felt a little weird. Not my worst experience, but nowhere near the good end.

The staff did try to help, and we were given complimentary breakfasts during our two-night family stay. Breakfast itself was good, though the hash browns were overcooked and the chef was very pleasant and welcoming. Still, being told they couldn’t do much and that “you can’t expect the best” felt patronising. We were asking for basic standards, not the best. The room and hallway smelled damp and musty. On arrival, one room had poo all over the toilet, other rooms had mould or damp on the walls, a broken toilet seat and a broken toilet lock. One room’s bedsheets were dirty and stained; the replacement was dirty too, until the manager found a clean set. We were moved, but the new room had its own problems. The toilets smelled strongly of weed, perhaps coming through the vents, and the hallway smelled of it too. On our last night, the toilet seat broke again, and we were told it couldn’t be fixed because maintenance wasn’t available. We booked after reading good reviews, but our stay didn’t match them, and I don’t know how this hotel got such good ones.

The breakfast was lovely, and the reception and dining staff were friendly and helpful. But I wouldn’t stay again. The room was freezing until I luckily got a heater from reception, and the shower kept cutting in and out. The hotel could do with an update. The second floor and the carpets in the hallways and room smelled musty, as if there’d been a leak. I stayed one night. Ubers are only allowed onto the main road, not to collect from the car park. That’s ridiculous and especially inconvenient when you’re a woman travelling alone.

Tia made my four-night stay that much easier. She was so kind and helpful. The food was very good, the service was good too, and the rooms were clean and well kept.

I had a great stay and would definitely return. The room was really clean and tidy, and the atmosphere felt comfortable and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful, with special thanks to “FERN” for the warm welcome and great service. Nice hotel, highly recommend.
