I wandered along the canals with a friend who grew up in Birmingham, and whose father was an architect. His stories and insights brought the buildings and little details to life for me. With all the water and bridges cutting across it, I couldn't help imagining Birmingham as a characterful little Venice. 🌊
In the sunshine, the area was nice, though one of the restaurants had scaffolding around it. I found the route easy to follow on my phone.
There are plenty of shops and food places around, along with lots of canal paths and junctions.
We moored here for 48 hours, had a lovely meal at I noels, then sat and watched the world go by. A very enjoyable Saturday 😉
This is my favourite part of Birmingham. The industrial history has been revamped with a modern feel, and it's definitely worth visiting.
