Travelodge Birmingham Airport

Parking in airport car park 7 leaves your car right outside, and the hotel can give you a discount code if you call. The location was great, about a five minute drive from the BP Pulse Live Arena and nearby places. Staff were welcoming, and the room was clean and aired out when we arrived. The bathroom was fine, though cleaners could have paid a bit more attention: the handwash was empty, even if the room wasn't dirty overall. There's a bar and restaurant onsite. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including decent sausages, bacon, scrambled egg, hash browns, and pancakes. It was fine, though with few guests I think the food had been sitting for a while. We heard some airport noise, but nothing else. Really good value for money.

The rooms have been renovated recently and were clean and comfortable. The hotel bar and restaurant were great, and this was a perfect stop before an early flight. Staff were fabulous and talked us through the parking setup. The hotel's own spaces are limited and very expensive, while the NCP car park right behind it has plenty of spaces. You need to book there to get the discounted hotel rate. Reception can explain the details, and there are posters on the wall in case staff forget to mention them. The place was spotless and well located.

Parking details in the emails were easy to miss, since they weren't explained clearly and were printed small. The room was clean and nice, but not very big. The TV was a letdown: tiny, with no Netflix or YouTube built in, so I ended up watching things on my phone because the TV was basically useless. I might stay again if they upgraded it, but as things stand, I wouldn't.

With a cheap hotel, I guess you get what you pay for, and I wasn't expecting much. Still, I did expect clean bedding, but there were black marks on the sheet and one pillow. The bed wasn't very comfortable either, and our fan was broken. We didn't complain since we checked in late and had an early flight. The airport shuttle stops right outside, and with the windows shut we couldn't hear the airport, which was a nice surprise.
