Westmead Hotel

We celebrated my wife’s 50TH Birthday at the Westmead Hotel, and everything was first class. The venue, parking, access, function room, food, and resident DJ were all great. Paul Shenton kept everyone on their toes on the superb dance floor. Some of our family and friends booked rooms and breakfast at discounted rates through the function. The buffet was fabulous. Thank you all so much.

The room was immaculate and had a huge bed, and the staff were friendly. The food was top notch. My only very minor gripe was that the breakfast hash browns were over-crispy, but that’s not enough to take off a star. I have no connection to the place, so I don’t have to give it five stars.

We usually stay home and cook, but were looking forward to our first pub Christmas dinner, so we booked a three-course meal at Westmead hotel. The service was a bad experience. We waited an hour for starters while some tables were already having their mains and others were still waiting for starters. Then it was nearly 50 minutes for our mains. At £80, it wasn’t the best. Dessert was another mess. We were getting our coats to leave when a staff member said our desserts were coming out next, so we waited. We ended up there for about three hours. It was a set menu, and they should have served all the starters first, then mains, then desserts. Some people were already on dessert while we were still waiting for dinner. Customer service wasn’t good, and they need a better system for next year’s Christmas dinner.

I had a lovely time at two colleagues’ wedding here. It was a nice place, well organised and maintained, and the staff were extremely friendly and polite. There was plenty of parking at the back. I believe rooms upstairs can be booked by the wedding hosts or their guests.
