We had Sunday lunch today, and it was the best one yet. They've really raised the game. Alex served us, was lovely and polite, and couldn't do enough. There wasn't a gluten free dessert, but he suggested another glass of wine instead. Spot on! X

We only booked at The Bay Horse because everywhere else nearby was full at short notice, but I'm so glad we did. It'll be our first choice next time, highly recommended. It's been years since my last stay, and I was amazed by the change since it changed hands. The new owners have put a lot of thought into the guest experience. Dogs are welcome, and there's even a dog menu. Guests can borrow umbrellas at the entrance, and there are blankets and cushions for comfort on the lovely outside deck. Tom clearly knows his drinks and takes care to choose quality options.

Tom and his staff really go above and beyond. We were a group visiting the area, staying at the Bay Horse Hotel with dogs, and everyone was so friendly and dog friendly. The staff kept the bar open very late for us. Our rooms were comfortable and well laid out, with plenty of mirrors in ours, plus a spacious bathroom and even a coffee machine. We all enjoyed an excellent full English, cooked perfectly. The dogs got their own little plate of sausages too. A real gem.

We had four rooms for a group, and everything worked out fine when we arrived. Tom and the team were very accommodating. Booking had been a bit difficult because I had to call on a day Tom, the manager, was in, and once I spoke with him he was helpful getting the rooms arranged. They didn't ask for a deposit, which was nice, though I worried the rooms might not actually be reserved because I never got written confirmation. The rooms were clean, spacious, comfortable, and dog friendly if needed. We chose the full English breakfast for a very reasonable extra charge, and it was well worth it. There was a good range of draught beers, especially Motorhead Road Crew, which we liked, though unfortunately they ran out. We sat up late by the warm coal burner, and Tom kept the bar open for us since we were staying the night. I'd recommend staying here if you're in the area.

Hadn't been in years, and was really impressed with today's meal. There was a small amount of meat but plenty of everything else, and the vegetables were nicely presented with a good selection. The sponge was clearly made today and incredibly light. Really, I can't complain.
