Breakfast was so generously put together that we took some along for the journey. We had a lovely stay at the Curly Tails, and the room was just right, clean, cosy and comfortable. Would love to come back.

We had a great stag weekend at the Boars Head. The pub and its on-site accommodation suited us perfectly, with everything we needed for drinks, games, sport including the 6 nations and football, and plenty of laughs. Darren was helpful before we arrived, with local tips and making sure we were prepared. We ordered beer through him at a fair price, and he changed the barrels quickly whenever we asked. Everyone was already talking about coming back. From my experience, if you’re considerate with Darren and tidy up after yourselves, he’s very reasonable.

We celebrated my 50th here and had a fantastic weekend, making memories that’ll last. The village is beautiful, there’s plenty to do, and the accommodation is spacious and very nice. It’s a wonderfully traditional pub too. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

We were very disappointed with the host. We tried to call about the problems but couldn’t get through, and Sykes hasn’t answered our calls either. I’d seen mixed reviews and was already concerned about deposit deductions for small issues. In the end, almost half of our £1000 bond was kept. I have photos showing the poor state of repair and cleaning we found at the Boars Head, as well as bugs in the pub and in our cases after staying in the pub rooms. We also had to pay to have clothes professionally cleaned. I took videos and photos of how we left the place, and the cleaners even told several guests that we’d done their job for them. Several items in the kitchen had to be washed before we could use them on Friday. The kettles were broken when we arrived and thick with limescale, not fit for 23 guests to use daily. We didn’t complain at the time because we were excited and don’t like making a fuss, but that was our mistake. I’d have expected the kettles to be noticed during the previous guests’ checkout inspection and equipment check. There are cameras everywhere, and staff came in without warning to check the place quite often. We had nothing to hide: we cleaned the fridges and bathrooms, emptied bins, mopped twice during the week, vacuumed everywhere, washed down the car park, and stripped the beds and towels. We left it in great shape. The hot tub had several problems too. It was too cold, looked green, and kept being set to economy at 29 degrees, with no help on changing that. The owner was extremely unprofessional and, in our view, lied. Take photos and videos of everything. We won’t use this host or Sykes again.
