The Crown Inn

Sunday lunch was really good. We’ll be back for another meal.

The room was lovely and had great views. The staff made us feel thoroughly welcome and did everything they could to help us enjoy our stay. Great food and excellent beer too. Definitely recommend it for a break.

The room was good, and the pub seemed to draw a good crowd of locals in the evening. Breakfast includes a basic continental option, with cooked breakfast available. We didn’t have another meal there. When I booked, I hadn’t realized it was farther from other towns than I expected. The country roads can be difficult to drive on in the dark.

We were staying nearby with ten friends and chose the Crown because it was the closest pub. We had booked a Saturday meal in advance, with everything preordered, to celebrate our 60th birthdays. There was just one waitress all evening, and the table was laid very basically, without even a wine glass. The white wine wasn’t cold when we ordered it, and they only had one cooler. Most of the food seemed to be freezer to fryer fare. The steaks were overcooked and chewy, and there wasn’t even any mustard. Basic bar food at restaurant prices. I wouldn’t recommend it.
