The owners were warm and friendly, and the breakfast was very nice, with a discount for guests. My spacious room at the Poppy House, room 4, was really comfortable and had a good sized bathroom. There was even a fridge in the room, which you don't get in many places. It wasn't cold enough to need the heating, though I imagine it would be toasty in winter. For the price, what's not to like? I'd definitely recommend staying here. Many thanks, Karen.

The Poppy House is a delightful place to stay, and it’s run extremely well. I had a lovely stay in a comfortable family room, and everything about getting access was made simple.

For £55 a night, this is a great price. Other places charge £120 for the same or less. The large second story room was simple but spacious, with a wonderful view of the village streetscape. The bed was big and super comfortable, and there’s a fridge in the room. There’s a cafe below too. Love the place.

The mattress was rock hard and so uncomfortable that we had to leave at 1am. We wouldn’t stay again, though there are other places nearby. On arrival, the woman who met us didn’t seem very friendly, and we hadn’t been given the door code. There was also a strange disinfectant smell inside.

We always have breakfast at this place at least three times during our week in the area. The owner is lovely, and all the food is freshly prepared. Our dog is welcome in the downstairs area and loves the sausage and black pudding. Breakfast sets you up for the day. We love this place.
